Nearly five hundred million people worldwide suffer from neuropsychiatric disorders, representing, in aggregate, 14% of the global burden of disease in low, middle and high income countries. Although there have been notable scientific advances in the global mental health domain, challenges still remain in knowledge transmission and application, as well as in access to care and in eradicating shame, stigma, and discrimination. 21st Century Global Mental Health serves as a reliable and authoritative text on the subject of global mental health and its integration with public health and primary care. The book thoroughly examines the progress to date and the challenges that still remain. In five sections, it explores: • Global Mental Health Epidemiology and Diagnostic Systems • The Determinants of Health/Mental Health • Populations’ Health/Mental Health • Evaluating and strengthening health/mental health systems • Human Rights, Stigma, Mental Health Policy and the Media 21st Century Global Mental Health is an equally valuable resource for graduate students, educators and practitioners in public health, mental health and primary care as well as a reference text for policymakers. Grounded in theory, the book uses a systemic, systematic, collaborative and integrative approach and offers practical applications and implementations relevant to education and training, services, research, and policy. 21St Century Global Mental Health PDF

This book makes a significant contribution to global mental health (GMH) and indeed to the overall global health domain. It is an excellent compilation of materials (12 chapters) written by 35 scholars from 12 countries. Three areas in particular stand out to me: 1) the timeliness of this book--GMH is at a point now where a critical mass of research, reports, and good practice has been compiled for use in a variety of training settings; 2) the appreciation for the overlapping realities of human rights, public health, trans-cultural perspectives, and social determinants of health in GMH; and 3) the presentation of the materials in a readable, interesting, and helpful format . My sincere thanks to Dr. Sorel for this fine book. May it help guide our action as we work together to promote health, develop national health policies/budgets, and prevent/treat MNS conditions! ACSM's Health-Related Physical Fitness Assessment Manual PDF

The book was exactly what I was expecting to receive and came in a timely fashion. It was very useful in my exercise science class.
By Andrea Hilliard
This book would have been so helpful in my class, except for the fact that I only have 2 weeks left of class (including finals week). I am SO disappointed in the seller. I will probably never buy from them again. Other than that. The book has everything I need, except I didn't get to put too much of it to use.

Surgical Anatomy and Technique: A Pocket Manual, 3rd Edition PDF

Surgical Anatomy and Technique: A Pocket Manual, consistently places in the top 10 bestsellers for Springer.  The third edition will ensure its continued place on the list. The authors know exactly what makes this book popular: expansive scope; concise descriptions of anatomy and technique; illustrations on nearly every page; and its compact, portable size. The challenge, then, is in the very careful selection of topics and the need to be restrained in spite of the many surgical innovations that beg to be included but that have not yet stood the test of time. Toward that end, the third edition of Surgical Anatomy and Technique includes a limited amount of new material: 3 vascular procedures (abdominal aortic aneurysm, femoropopliteal bypass, and carotid endarterectomy) and 2 gynecologic procedures commonly performed by general surgeons (hysterectomy and oopherectomy). In addition, all of the existing chapters will be updated to reflect current surgical approaches and instrumentation. Third-year medical students, surgical residents and practicing surgeons will find this handbook to be one of their most-frequently-used resources.

Surgical Anatomy and Technique: A Pocket Manual, 3rd Edition PDF

This book serves as the guide to surgical pimping for medical students. This allowed me to enter cases with a clear understanding of the anatomy of the case and an incite into the techniques that we would be using.
By Mark Versnick
This is an excellent book! Outlining the steps of general surgery procedures, explaining significant anatomy to know and vessels to watch out for. This is a must have for any surgical student! The size is also good, can't be carried in the pocket but small enough to bring into the surgical suites.

Biogeochemistry: An Analysis of Global Change, 3rd Edition PDF

Download PRETITLE Biogeochemistry: An Analysis of Global Change, 3rd Edition POSTTITLE from 4shared, mediafire, hotfile, and mirror link

Biogeochemistry considers how the basic chemical conditions of the Earth-from atmosphere to soil to seawater-have been and are being affected by the existence of life. Human activities in particular, from the rapid consumption of resources to the destruction of the rainforests and the expansion of smog-covered cities, are leading to rapid changes in the basic chemistry of the Earth.

This expansive text pulls together the numerous fields of study encompassed by biogeochemistry to analyze the increasing demands of the growing human population on limited resources and the resulting changes in the planet's chemical makeup.

The book helps students extrapolate small-scale examples to the global level, and also discusses the instrumentation being used by NASA and its role in studies of global change. With extensive cross-referencing of chapters, figures and tables, and an interdisciplinary coverage of the topic at hand, this updated edition provides an excellent framework for courses examining global change and environmental chemistry, and is also a useful self-study guide.

  • Calculates and compares the effects of industrial emissions, land clearing, agriculture, and rising population on Earth's chemistry
  • Synthesizes the global cycles of carbon, nitrogen, phosphorous, and sulfur, and suggests the best current budgets for atmospheric gases such as ammonia, nitrous oxide, dimethyl sulfide, and carbonyl sulfide
  • Includes an extensive review and up-to-date synthesis of the current literature on the Earth's biogeochemistry

Biogeochemistry: An Analysis of Global Change, 3rd Edition PDF

This is a very informative text that is applicable to a variety of fields. The authors do an excellent job of bringing together data from a myriad of sources to build a compelling case for fundamental linkages between the biosphere and abiotic processes on the planet.

At last! The book for anyone who writes regulatory documents or wishes to learn more about writing regulatory documents for the biopharmaceutical industry. "Targeted Regulatory Writing Techniques: Clinical Documentation for Drugs and Biologics", written by 2 well-known regulatory writers with a combined 40 years experience, provides detailed information on 'targeted' writing. Many books, papers, and Web sites provide information on what needs to be written and submitted to regulatory authorities, but this comprehensive book shows you how to approach the writing task in a logical process that permits rapid completion of writing. "Targeted Regulatory Writing Techniques" is the first comprehensive book of regulatory writing for the biopharmaceutical industry, and covers specific documents types, as well as submission to all major regions of the world. The book provides a 'targeted' method of document development - a way of planning for information flow that maximizes efficiency and speed to submission. The book has a hands-on approach to identifying methods that quickly determine which document is required, how to write it, and how it fits into submission types. The authors share their experiences with numerous 'Lessons Learned' side bars of information. "Targeted Regulatory Writing Techniques" takes the reader from regulatory writing fundamentals, templates, and style guides through source documents (protocols and clinical study reports) to integrated documents (investigator's brochures, IMPD. ISS, ISE, and informed consents) to global submissions in Europe, Japan, and the United States. The comprehensive appendices provide examples of checklists, actual documents, and the submission forms required for Japan. An extensive glossary of terms is included. In summary, "Targeted Regulatory Writing Techniques: Clinical Documentation for Drugs and Biologics" offers a quick start up for the discipline, including regulatory context within which writing is performed.

Targeted Regulatory Writing Techniques: Clinical Documents for Drugs and Biologics PDF

While ICH has told the global clinical development community what they want there has been confusion as to how to implement the guidelines. The confusion is particularly acute in the small biotech firms where MDs, PhDs and PharmDs are given the sole authority to write protocols, clinical study reports, integrated summaries of safety and efficacy without the oversight and SOPs that guide these steps in Big Pharma. Wood and Foote have created an outstanding book which should serve as a reference for clinical development professionals worldwide. Through clear narratives and templates they tell the reader how to create all the documents needed in a clinical development program even including this information for Japan which has long been a source of confusion even in Big Pharma.

This is a fine reference book. But, it is NOT well served by the Kindle. The tables are almost impossible to read, even with the zoom plus a magnifying glass. (The zoom hardly enlarges the tables and figures at all.) It is also the kind of book that you want to refer to "as needed" for certain types of documents. Navigating to the pages you want to refer to is extremely difficult. Get the paper version for this one!

Study Guide for Essentials of Pathophysiology: Concepts of Altered Health States PDF

This book is a fill in the blank, study guide. I ordered it on my for my kindle and I am not even allowed to copy and print out the pages that need to be filled out. Very disappointing and I am questioning my kindle and the books that I have already purchased for school as well as an future purchases. Note, it says that I have copied and printed the max allowed by the publisher, therefore, it is not the kindle, but the kindle can not help me. AND now have to hand write all of the chapters..

VERY VERY DISPLEASED!!!

Great NCLEX-worthy questions. We are using this book for my BSN program and the questions are right in line with the style of questions that we can expect to see on our State Board Final Exam (NCLEX). Every answer is filled with great explanations of why that answer is correct and all of the processes that go along with whatever disease the question addresses.
