Through this integrative approach, students learn that psychological disorders are rarely caused by a single influence, but rooted in the interaction among multiple factors: biological, psychological, cultural, social, familial, and even political. A conversational writing style, consistent pedagogy, video clips of real clients (located on the accompanying Abnormal Psychology Live 2.5 CD-ROM), and real case profiles--95 percent from the authors' own case files--provide a realistic context for the scientific findings of the book. In addition, these features ensure that readers never lose sight of the fact that real people are beyond the DSM-IV-TR criteria, the theories, and the research.

Essentials of Abnormal Psychology PDF
I like psych, and I think this book summarizes topics and its aspects clearly. I use this book for research projects as well, and it provides insight to a lot of things.By Rupal Shah
This textbook is incredible. It contains important information and specific examples of people suffering from mental disorders. As a Psych major, I found the information to be well-organized and extremely informative. The included CD-ROM was also extremely helpful. It showed specific patients being interviewed regarding disorders from which they suffered. It allowed me to understand the complexities of each disorder. I will continue to use this text throughout Grad school. Very easy to understand. I could not stop reading it!By NicNat
