I have owned every edition of this book and highly recommend it to any healthcare or social service professional. The Handbook on Animal Assisted Therapy provides an excellent overview of the issues surrounding the professionals, the clients/participants, and the dogs. This book provides excellent resources for articles by professionals in a variety of disciplines that is critical to understand if we are to maintain professional standards. It is a must have for entry level and seasoned professionals, alike.By Caffeine Drip
I hesitated to buy because this is an edited volume, because of price, and because I was not sure about a reference book on Kindle. Now that I own the Kindle version, which saved me money, I can comment. The authors of each chapter provide considerable, expert research and documentation. The editor, well known in his field, provides indepth discussions and organization of issues related to animal assisted therapy. An updated book is in progress. I can manage Kindle by book marks, notes, and underlining. One draw back - the table of contents shows exciting chapter titles, but no chapter authors. Anyone who partners with a pet to visit and help others MUST read this book. Anyone who benefits from human-animal bonding will appreciate the insights and research reported in this book.By Ronaele Whittington
