Just bought the kindle version of this textbook. Rating the kindle user experience:By annieoftirol
I read chapter 6 via kindle, came to the end and wanted to access the additional online content. It turns out there is no access code supplied with the kindle version! You have to have an access code to be able to Use 'The Point', Lippincott's online resource center, where you can access Q/A, animations etc.etc. for the book. If you buy the printed book, or the e-book purchased from Lippincott directly, you automatically receive an access code. NOT with the kindle version. I searched amazon and Lipincott and could not find a way to receive an access code. The amazon description clearly states that additional online resources are made available to the purchaser. Rating low because of this discrepancy, I bought the book for complete access and find buyers should be told if kindle version offers less than the other versions. If I can resolve this, will re-rate.
This is from the online description for the e-booK: Online Case Studies for each chapter include questions and answers and reinforce how an understanding of physiology is important in dealing with clinical conditions.
--Student Resources include: online searchable text, 250 USMLE questions, 76+ case studies, and animations.
Now if one could only get to the online resources....
Update: 2 e-mails To tech support: they said to e-mail kindle receipt and they will generate an access code but I already returned the kindle book,(did not want to jump through more hoops) so cannot say if this would have worked.
In grad school I took physiology and used Guyton and Hall text. Now in Med school this Rhoades book was the assigned text. There simply is no comparison. I learned so much from Guyton. Rhoades has only confused me on things I previously understood. The writing is vague and far too brief. Each paragraph jumps around within a topic and there is no flow from one paragraph to the next. The illustrations are okay, but not enough to compensate for the poorly written text. I sold my copy half way through my course because it was absolutely useless.By medmur
