Obstetrics and Gynecology PDF
With so many resources out there for medical school clerkships, sometimes choosing the right one can be exhausting. Most of the time, I rely on review books, but even that is difficult because there are so many options and little continuity across clerkships. For example, Blueprints was great for Peds, but almost useless for Medicine. Case Files is generally pretty good for most clerkships, but its always a gamble because its generally limited in content and often important concepts are not adequately addressed.By Ryan Magnuson
Obstetrics and Gynecology by Beckman is a rare example of a textbook that is comprehensive and concise. It is easy to read, and really hits all of the key points that are important on the wards and for the shelf. It works great as a quick reference because the topics are intuitively organized, and current references are provided for nearly all content.
Most importantly, it is written is conjunction with The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists- so you know the source of the information is legitimate. They basically tell you what is important to know according to the current guidelines.
Also, its short and to the point, so its perfect to use as a reference when studying for step 2. So far it's the only textbook I've kept around (other than Harrison's) for studying for step 2.
I was surprised when I began reading this - it feels less a text and more a collection of documents from ACOG. In hindsight it was a great tool for covering the GYN/OB content because each topic covered was concise - this is definitely an asset when one has to read a lot of material for class. The illustrations where great too(colorful and descriptive). This is a good go-to for practice since you can quickly and easily review specific material. Why 4 stars - now, if they only had an e-book version it would be perfect!By NrsCami
